01 · CONTEXT

Portuguese taxi fleets run on a certified taximeter that is the legal source of the fare, and a software chain that should carry that figure through to a fiscally valid invoice. In practice the chain is broken in the middle.

02 · THE PROBLEM

The existing flow keeps the total and discards everything else: distance, duration, tolls, supplements, route, and the taximeter's own trip number. The driver retypes the fare by hand into a second app while the passenger waits.

03 · WHAT WE BUILT

01
Capture straight from the meter. The trip arrives in the app already complete, deduplicated and correlated, so nothing is retyped and nothing is lost between the meter and the invoice.
02
Immediate, editable, auditable receipt. The full breakdown appears in under two seconds, with distance computed from device GPS. The driver can adjust the fare, and the system stores both the meter value and the charged value.
03
Fiscal validity.Printed receipts carry the SAF-T hash chain, QR and ATCUD that Portuguese regulation requires.
04
Works without coverage. An idempotent local queue and a complete on-device trip ledger, so a full shift in a dead zone loses no invoices and nothing duplicates on sync.

04 · WHAT HELD

The architecture separates two things most implementations conflate: printing and invoicing. A printer failure cannot lose an invoice, and a network failure cannot stop the passenger walking away with their receipt. Every trip is logged locally, including the ones the driver discards, so the fleet owner's reconciliation always balances.
